Am I the only person alive that likes that weird Subaru grille ? Man, everyone seems to hate it.

This post has installed a hopeless case of wanderlust and also made me annoyed I have never seen a hydropneumatic Citroen.

Kinja'd!!!

Socal is in a different world than the rest of the country. The car spotting in this post alone would be a yearlong highlight for me. Well, I did see a wild R34 Nissan Skyline GTR and an illegal and highly modified Nissan Silvia this year plus a Citroen HY Van food truck, a Fiat Panda turned into a sculpture, and a Fiat 500 restaurant prop.

Kinja'd!!!

You have a great eye for photography. I like your composition and use of colors especially.

I love Clubmans and hope to own one someday. It’s the fast modern Mini shooting brake of my dreams except I’m not sure about being able to afford to keep one on the road.

Kinja'd!!!

I really like that architectural study model. That’s what I’m studying right now (and supposed to be working on late at the studio). The craftsmanship here is amazing. I’m just a first year so I’m not doing anything all that complicated. Here’s a bit of a minor something I happened to finish earlier tonight for an introductory course in construction methods. Decent for a rushed hand drawn axonometric.

Kinja'd!!!

Are you an architect? Or just went to architecture school as many do?

Yes, yes you are. Fellow minivan lover or not. That’s why the B9 Tribeca with the weird name to match the face was quickly canned.

What was the community name for that face? I know of Bugeye and that’s it for the face nick names.

I absolutely think this is the best of ‘the 3'. I’m not a huge fan of the bugeye, the peanut/blob version makes for the best looking wagon, but the hawkeye wins it overall for me.

I had to find out about it myself after parking behind that one; I never knew it!

Looking through my photos and I even get wanderlust from them ...eff this year so hard...

Thanks for the compliments on the photos! I had 2 years of Photography back in high school, so I’m glad something stuck. ;)

I studied (non-finisher) Industrial Design, but at that university, the ID program was really young and its 1st year studio was actually the same as 1st year Arch kids. That model is of ‘Casa Reutter’ by Mathias Klotz and really was just a study of an existing work and putting one’s craft to the test (i. e. , die a little inside from all the sleepless nights up in studio). Their first year studio programming was very focused on craft as well as general design concepts , so that study was the most ‘architectural’ thing we did really. Your axio is more involved than I ever got. :)

I’m pretty sure I’ve been very lucky with my (2nd) Clubman. It’s got 103k on the clock, I’ve put on 50k of those, and all I’ve had go wrong is a coil and the high pressure fuel pump. Neither of which stranded me. (Getting a tank of bad gas in Mississippi on the other hand....that stranded me...)

Dang it, link broken, I’ll come back to this as I need to get some sleep and I’m not done in the studio. *checks time* Yes, it is currently 30 after midnight and I’ve got a good deal to do. I want to look more at that because it’s a very interesting design.

Ugh, tests of craft, more like test of time down the drain. It’s mighty impressive. Fortunately first year studio here is more focused on executing design concepts than craft. Plus COVID has greatly reduced in-person feedback.

Here’s one of 16 axonometrics I made before turning in 12 of them for a standard cubes project. Of course this was hand drawn and I also had to build the dang things. Fortunately I only had to make one model for each of my systems.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

I take quite a few photos but almost only phone camera ones. Here’s some exceptions.

Dang it, now I’ve got wanderlust just by looking through my own photos. LET ME LIVE, DANGIT! I was supposed to actually travel to a place that isn’t this place last summer but that sure didn’t happen. I’ll have to make it out west a different time.

Seems your first one got totaled in what looks like a merging accident. Tough, but your second one is a nice shade of blue. Is it an S? As long as it’s not Sony’s JCW Clubman I would take one in a heartbeat. My Cruze is a good car but it’s not the most exciting. Though there is also a cheap and low miles 500 Abarth in a decent color combo I’ve been eyeing. Budget cap is basically 7-8k including a repair fund so it’s really hard to know what to look for.

Also, is that your WRX in that photo that has its roof crushed? What happened?

You are correct; 1st Clubman got merged into by a box truck — a ll his lugnuts grinding and chewing away at its side. Then the car was swung across his front, thus the damage to the front passenger door.

And yup, 2nd Clubman is a 2012 S.

The crushed car is actually an Evo VIII that I bought in that condition because the plan was to swap the entire running gear into a Lancer wagon.

Hawkeye is much too complimentary for that mug.  Should be like NATO codenames; can’t be complimentary to the Russians.  Flogger, Fishbed, Fencer.

It’s interesting how much better it looks in two tone. The white one on Wikipedia bores me.

It’s hard to tell a WRX from an Evo when the front has fallen off. And you clearly had a similar looking gray WRX so I figured it was the same car.

Kinja'd!!!

That is a lot of damage for a merging accident. A regular old crossover wouldn’t have nearly torn the door skin off. That must have been scary.

Sucks that your Clubman got munched. I take it they are both S?

Indeed, a faceless Evo is oddly Imp reza’ish. :)

Yup, both are an S. The first one I only had for around 7 months or so before it was totaled.

I have always loved minis, both classic and modern, but at my price bracket what I end up with is heavily dependent on what’s available. Now this, now this. . . .

https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/d/decatur-2012-fiat-500-abarth-turbo/7219845665.html

$6,900,80k miles, my favorite grayscale color scheme (would love red or another color but this will do), fantastic red interior, great condition, I really want this. It’s even pretty close by. Abarths are really hard to find.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

There are barely any Clubmans for sale anywhere close that are an S. This is a regular one and I’m not sure how much of a difference it is.

https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/d/snellville-mini-cooper-clubman-97k-miles/7217149690.html

Kinja'd!!!

It’s just so hard to find any fun small cars that aren’t totally thrashed for so little money.

I believe the differences are non-turbo motor, 5-speed instead of 6-speed, slightly smaller brakes, and softer suspension/thinner anti-roll bars. I thiiiiiiiiink I’ve read the non-S  ‘justa’ mini’s tend to be a bit more reliable, but I’d have to research that again.

I think it varies by model year. I believe the 2000s non  S minis were more reliable and easier to work on but with the 2010s ones it kinda varies.
